Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the Manager of Systems Engineering and Operations, the System Administrator is responsible for maintaining technical solutions to support the Information Technology Solutions (ITS) organization. The Systems Administrator is also responsible for operating, monitoring, deploying, documenting, patching, and troubleshooting core system infrastructure such as server operating systems, server hardware, virtualization platforms, storage arrays, and applications. The incumbent is a subject matter expert in data center-centric to Cloud-based infrastructure who envisions future state technologies, delivers increased agility, scalability, performance, and resiliency. This role will support, analyze, administer, and deploy solutions to drive technology modernization and the incorporation of industry best practices.

Hands-on experience with Windows AD directory, Group Policies, Powershell, Windows Server environments, and Office 365. Required
Hands-on experience with server back-up tools such as Veeam, Backup Exec, and experience managing complex patching deployments of various systems. Required
Demonstrated experience administering both Linux and Windows servers as well as hands on experience with Linux shell and Perl. Required
Demonstrated experience running cloud-based workloads on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Required

Manages systems and services for a facility of moderate size and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware, software and services. Performs moderately complex analysis to acquire, install, modify and support operating systems, databases, utilities and Internet/intranet-related tools. Plans, designs and implements moderately complex system updates and rollouts. May perform moderately complex networking tasks and interoperability assessments for interconnected servers or components of clusters for communication.
  • Systems include virtual infrastructure (VMware), Windows and Linux operating systems, third party (vendor supplied) applications, and cloud-based applications and platforms. Configures and allocates cross-platform SAN/NAS based storage to virtual and physical infrastructure. Maintains storage replication and snapshots.

Defines, designs and implements systems, services and technology solutions. Proposes and implements system or device enhancements such as software, hardware and network configuration, updates and installations for projects or services of moderately complex scope.
  • Plays a key operational role in day-to-day activities for the Systems Operations group. Specifies, writes, and executes highly complex scripts to support systems management, log analysis and other support duties for multiple, highly integrated systems. Designs, documents, and implements solutions for providing various types of high availability systems.

  • Create, execute, and document scripts in various languages such as perl, python, groovy, and powershell. Utilize configuration management such as Ansible to deploy systems and maintain desired state configuration.

Performs complex security control activities to prevent unauthorized access to networked resources. May assist with maintenance of security systems for network equipment and provide recommendations on network access controls.

Maintains enterprise and system directories (OpenLDAP, Active Directory) for both client/server systems management, authentication, authorization, group, and attribute services.

Experience installing, managing and supporting IIS, Tomcat, Weblogic, or other application servers. Required
