Generic Scope
Directs through subordinate managers multiple large and complex critical programs impacting broad constituencies across major portions of the organization. Identifies objectives, manages very significant human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with an extremely high degree of autonomy. Accountable for formulating and administering policies and programs for major functions. Operational or program results can affect overall organization-wide performance and reputation. Directs through subordinate managers the development of strategic goals and objectives to achieve accountability and stewardship of university resources in a manner consistent with systemwide objectives and initiatives.

Custom Scope
Functions as Athletic Director with overall responsibility for the direction and oversight of all intercollegiate athletics staff, facilities and activities for Division 1 programs. Develops athletics policies and authorizes their implementation. Recognized as an influential leader.

Directs the development and operation of all aspects of Division 1 intercollegiate athletic programs and facilities.
  • Set a positive tone for Intercollegiate Athletics at UCR, in a manner that supports the campus' commitment to excellence, access, diversity, and engagement. ? Strongly value the social and cultural diversity that exists at UCR. ? Place high priority on the academic success of UCR's diverse and talented student athletes. ? Set an example by establishing high expectations and holding coaches accountable for student success.

Develops department policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight of human resources management for the organization, including training, staff recognition and development, performance management,and employee relations. Direct approval of organizational staff personnel decisions and actions as appropriate. Develops and ensures compliance with all-internal and external policies and procedures including regulations set forth by the UC Office of the President, NCAA, and state and federal regulations for-athletics programs.

Provides strategic direction and establishes short- and long-term planning and goals.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the organization?s annual budget, fiscal plan, financial reporting, and contractual agreements to include scholarship funding. Oversee the long-range planning for athletic facilities including maintenance, renovation, and the construction of new facilities.

Collaborates with administrative departments on the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
  • Direct and oversee the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of coaches and staff positions. Provide strategic oversight to the coaches for recruitment of student athletes
