Dr. Ilana Bennett is seeking one part-time (20-30 hours/week) and one full-time (30-40 hours/week) Laboratory Assistant to begin in Fall 2021. Both positions will assist with research investigating the effects of aging on behavior and the brain by collecting neuropsychological, cognitive, and neuroimaging data in younger and older adults. Preferred candidates will have a strong research background, with experience recruiting, scheduling, and collecting data from human subjects; and experience working with older adults. All candidates must have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. These positions are ideal for those interested in pursuing an advanced degree in cognitive neuroscience or related fields. The part-time position will be dedicated to research within Dr. Bennett?s Laboratory of Aging and Neurocognitive Imaging. The full-time position will split time between an NIH-funded study that Dr. Bennett contributes to and related research within Dr. Bennett?s lab. Both positions are for a 1 year appointment. Key Responsibilities

The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for recruiting, screening, scheduling, and testing participants. Recruitment activities may involve sending emails, making calls, posting fliers, or attending community events. Screening and scheduling activities involve asking questions about eligibility and availability via phone or email. Testing activities involve administration and scoring of neuropsychological and cognitive tests and escorting participants to the imaging center for neuroimaging data collection. All testing will be done remotely (via phone or Zoom) or on The University of California, Riverside campus. The Lab Assistant may also be involved in basic data quality control, such as checking behavioral data for errors or neuroimaging data for artifacts. These responsibilities will be conducted under the close supervision of the faculty lead (Dr. Bennett) and with support from graduate students involved in these projects.

The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for maintaining physical and digital records related to the project under the supervision of the faculty lead. This may involve updating participant and study databases, downloading files from the imaging center, or assisting with paperwork relating to other UCR entities, such as the IRB. They may help order research supplies and equipment. The Laboratory Assistant may also maintain the schedules of team members to plan meetings and schedule project-related tasks.
