Department Custom Scope
The Coordinator for the Associated Students Program Board (ASPB) has overall responsibility for the operations, personnel management, and budgeting of ASPB to ensure that the programs and events follow established operating policies, procedures, and UCR's Principles of Community. The Coordinator for ASPB is the primary advisor for the student leaders in ASPB and provides leadership, guidance, training, and support. The Coordinator assists the board in delivering a robust campus entertainment experience for the undergraduate students at UCR as they collaborate with various campus partners. As the undergraduate population continues to grow and more students live on-campus, ASPB's programs have also grown in demand, complexity, and size. The ASPB Coordinator addresses and resolves competing priorities while serving the students and supporting campus partners. The Coordinator will also lead the team in developing and implementing a strategic plan, assessment plan, and fundraising/sponsorship plan. Additionally, this position supports general Student Life Office functions and events as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Manages a program of providing counseling, guidance and development to student leaders or student government. Oversee(s) a program(s) and service(s) of diverse complexity and scope.
  • Serves as the program director for ASPB. Oversees the ASPB Advisor and ASPB student leaders in developing and implementing robust programming plans that support the various areas within ASPB: Films & Lecture, Special Events, Contemporary Culture, Concerts, Marketing, Leadership and the Volunteer Program, and other ASPB initiatives. Oversees large-scale campus events (upwards of 13,000 students) to small-scale events and ensures campus procedures and policies are followed. Provides recommendations, reports, and metrics on the feasibility of new and current programs and initiatives.

May provide strategic vision and oversight on development of program design and applicability. Measures, assesses, and evaluates programs and staff.
  • Develops strategic student engagement priorities, annual goals, and objectives to ensure proper alignment with the Division of Student Affairs and the University's strategic plans.

May supervise clerical and/or student staff.
  • Develops, encourages, and monitors professional growth and staff development of professional, student staff, and student volunteers (currently 1 FTE, 15 student staff, and approximately 60 student volunteers). The ASPB Coordinator has indirect supervision of the administrative staff member in ASPB.

Develops and maintains complex or sensitive relationships with external organizations critical to program success. Represents the organizations to UC, the local community, and other relevant audiences.
  • Negotiates contracts with all off-campus vendors and artists, and ensures that contracts are fully executed and adhere to university policy and procedures.

Manages a budget of over 2 million and allocates funding to the various programming areas within ASPB.
