Custom Scope
Under general supervision, develops and/or oversees research proposals, awards and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies. Works on proposals of moderate scope such as single investigator NSF proposals where analysis of financial information or reports requires review of a variety of factors (e.g. budgets, salaries, expenses, etc). Receives assignments on project basis and fully analyzes problems, gathers data and information, and recommends solutions. May be eligible for delegated signature authority. Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official.

Department Custom Scope
Reporting to the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS), the position supports the research, instruction and public service missions of the College. The position will have a strong focus on establishing and maintaining databases related to funding opportunities and templates for proposal documents, along with creating checklists and templates for faculty as requested. The role reports directly to the Grants Facilitator. The position will also support junior leadership in the areas of extramural funding strategies and trends. Finally, as designated by the Grants Facilitator, the position will assist with coordination with departmental administrators and analysts, proposal organization and editing, and communication with the sponsors.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
(CR): Under general supervision, provides advice and counsel regarding sponsored projects administration to Department Administrators and PIS. Supports grant writing and proposal development initiatives to improve funding success.

(DR): Analyzes transactions, expenditures, identifies and resolves discrepancies, financial and inventory reports. Prepares proposal budgets and support documents that are required by proposal guidelines.

As designated by supervisor, serves as the liaison for single-investigator proposals under 1 million dollars, and coordinates with department analyst and RED as necessary.

(CR): Develops professional relationships with sponsor representatives to help identify funding opportunities for researches.

Creates proposal templates and document checklists for specific funding opportunities as requested by faculty or supervisor.

Researches faculty inquiries regarding proposal eligibility, limited submission, format and compliance of proposal documents, allowable costs, rolling deadlines, etc.

Creates and maintains database of funding opportunities relevant to CNAS faculty. Disseminates funding opportunities to relevant faculty and colleagues across UCR.
