Provides the full range of assessment, counseling, and advice to targeted students, and makes referrals to organization and community resources. Works independently, receiving guidance on complicated problems/situations.

Department Custom Scope
Incumbent provides assessment, counseling, and advice to formerly incarcerated and system impacted students; refers students to other campus and community resources and organizations; builds relationships across campus; leads grant writing efforts for additional funding. Position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and works closely with the USI organization leadership. This position has a tentative end date of 1 year after the start date however, it may be extended depending on the receipt of additional grant funds and workload needs.

Experience in developing and submitting workshop and panel proposals for relevant conferences, symposiums, and events. Required
Experience in developing and providing academic, political, and professional workshops and training for members, campus partners and departments to learn how to serve formerly incarcerated and system impacted students. Required

Implements long-range planning, leadership, and outreach that increases constituent engagement with Underground Scholars and provides strategic direction for the program, including engagement in fundraising activities such as grant -writing, campus funding opportunities, and donor relations.

Hires, trains, and supervises the work of graduate interns and paraprofessionals.
