Department Custom Scope
The Community Engagement Specialist supports the Center's charge to build external relationships, enhance the Center's brand and reputation, and generate support for the Center's mission. Major areas of focus and responsibility include building relationships and collaborative partnerships with community-based organizations, applied research centers, businesses, and those government agency officials with responsibility for community and stakeholder engagement; building, maintaining, and analyzing databases and asset maps of community organizations and partnerships; and designing and coordinating internship and fellowship programs.

Key Responsibilities

Building relationships and collaborative partnerships with various stakeholder groups (e.g., community organizations, businesses, applied research centers, community engagement divisions of government agencies). Analyzes and responds to requests from public and private partners for CSI support and participation.

Develops and implements programs, events and/or communication strategies designed to inform alumni and other key constituencies of institutional programs, activities, policies, and practices; constituencies may include the general public, prospective students, students, alumni, parents, donors, campus visitors, government and/or community representatives,.
  • Design and coordinate internship and fellowship programs.

Responds to constituent inquiries.
  • Keeps stakeholders apprised of CSI priorities and larger policy dynamics affecting regions and communities served by the Center. Utilizes working relationships with various populations and groups to identify policy issues of importance to regions and communities served by the Center.

May research various topics and gather relevant data to inform unit strategic plans, keeping management informed as necessary and providing input as required.

Tracks and informs management of issues of community interest or concern; tracks legislation, ordinances, laws; and maintains files and lists of relevant external constituencies. Work in collaboration with the research team to build, maintain, and analyze databases and asset maps of community organizations and partnerships.
