Department Custom Scope
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment and Evaluation for Undergraduate Admissions, organize and administer motivational and informational outreach programs aimed at increasing readiness to transfer to the University of California and UCR enrollment from first-generation, low income, and underrepresented minority transfer students and community college-bound high school students. As an official representative of the University is available to prospective and admitted students, their families, the campus community and the general public to interpret and explain University policies, regulations, and admissions requirements. Represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the University at workshops, residential summer programs, and a variety of on/off-campus outreach and yield events. The Transfer Preparation Program Coordinator will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with K-14 and higher education institutions and/or community entities. Develops collaborative relationships with other college-going programs. This is a two-year contract position.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Performs recruitment activities, including writing or editing materials, and representing the school/college/department at admissions events and other forums.
  • With the support of the Assistant Director, develops and executes outreach initiatives for first generation, low income, and underrepresented student recruitment, including collaboration with UCR students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Assist in developing and implementing strategies to increase the applications and enrollment to baccalaureate degree granting institutions.

Under direction and guidance, implements aspects of events to enhance recruitment and yield.
  • Event planning includes proposing and developing new and engaging ideas, to execute new events and programs for targeted populations in collaboration with the UGA event specialist and Assistant Director.

Provides substantive information on admissions requirements, school/college programs and curricula, financial aid, housing, and career opportunities.
  • Travels to high school, community colleges, and other outreach sites to provide information about prospective students. Also, navigates and manages virtual online settings as needed (on Zoom, social media, etc. platforms).

Directly supervises student employees that will serve as ambassadors to the university with outreach to low income, first generation, and under-represented prospective students.
