Department Custom Scope
Under general supervision of the Payroll Coordination and Analysis Manager, the Business System Analyst will support UCPath related campus financial tools and systems. From systems that provide data as input to the UCPath system, to other systems that provide integration with campus financial system, and everything in between. The business systems analyst will be responsible for conducting systems analysis, fit gap analysis, data analysis, process design and/or process redesign, creation of business and functional requirement documents, develop training materials and deliver training, and manage projects as needed. Support UCPath initiatives of assigned functional responsibilities. Participate in UCPath project initiatives as assigned. The effort assigned to the job responsibilities may shift in response to changing goals and objectives and the demands of the project or needs in other projects.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Advanced degree in related field. Preferred

Key Responsibilities

Applies technical expertise and business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define complex systems scope and objectives with an understanding of applicable business practices, processes, systems and industry standards to meet end-user needs.
  • Translate new and existing business processes into detailed universally understood documentation and workflow mapping. Participate in analytical project management activities, including the development and maintenance of timelines with tasks and project milestones. Populate and maintain the BFS standard issue tracking log to provide issue clarity and to facilitate the timely resolution of all issues.

Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing complex systems and procedures. Creates complex specifications for systems to meet end-user requirements. Involved in developing complex user interface designs. Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing. Participates in cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.

Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting requirements and revising existing system and process logic issues as necessary. Provides support and training on new applications. Guides and advises less-experienced Business Systems Analysts.
