Custom Scope
Using professional student services theories and concepts, performs a limited range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life program. Works independently to provide information and interpretation of clearly defined policies, procedures and regulations. Receives direction regarding more complex issues and/or program(s). Identifies individual student needs for programs and services and advises on appropriate programs and resources.

Department Custom Scope
The Professional Development Coordinator (PDC) is responsible for providing comprehensive support to student organizations, and engineering students; including assistance with University recognition, recruitment, program and event planning, major event risk management, accessing University resources, understanding and negotiating University policies and procedures, organizational development and enhancement, and leadership training. This position encompasses a wide variety of educational and administrative duties in the areas of professional development for engineering students. These areas include undergraduate research (REU's), internships/Co-ops, and part-time and full-time positions. This role serves as a liaison between campus departments and the community.

Provides transactional advising and guidance to student leaders participating in student government, co-curricular programs and/or organizations on non-sensitive issues. Facilitates student development in leadership, communication skills, project coordination and in establishing goals.

Serves as an advisor to a small student service operation (e.g., Bike Shop) which may include training students and staff, preparing budgets, and performing fiscal analysis.

May provide recommendations and suggestions for changes and/or development of new activities and services.

Provides basic support services for a student program(s) and/or provides basic academic support services for a residential complex, which may include working in the following areas: a tutoring program, an on-site computer facility, a course/learning skills program, and a faculty involvement program.

Participates in the adjudication process for student conduct cases of limited complexity. Seeks advice from higher level specialist on more complicated cases. Interviews witnesses and writes up findings regarding alleged conduct violations. Makes recommendations for sanctions based on case precedence.
