Department Custom Scope
Under supervision from the admissions manager, this position is responsible for providing assistance to develop and administer programs that support the recruitment of highly qualified and diverse applicants to the UCR School of Medicine. The primary areas of responsibility include: preparation of materials from applicants for review by the admissions committee, assisting on interview days and/or admissions committee meetings, and providing information to the public and prospective applicants on admissions requirements. The incumbent will serve as the primary admissions point of contact for the Program in Medical Education (PRIME) and our student information system, Banner. They will be responsible for independently reviewing applications for admission and producing reports/program evaluations as requested of the unit. The incumbent will travel to and attend regional admissions fairs to support the recruitment of a highly qualified and diverse group of applicants while serving as a liaison to premedical advisors at various colleges and universities to ensure they are updated about admissions standards and requirements.

  • Serves as the primary admissions point of contact for the Program in Medical Education (PRIME). Assumes primary responsibility for the PRIME program admissions process.

Exercises professional judgment in reviewing, evaluating, and recommending applicants for admission using established guidelines.
  • Processes admissions decisions and duplicate application errors through the Common Matching process as directed. Prepares applicant materials for review by the admissions committee, assisting on interview days and/or admissions committee meetings.

Responds to inquiries from prospective students regarding entrance requirements, application procedures, financial aid availability, housing alternatives, etc.
  • Provides information to the public and prospective applicants on admissions requirements for SOM.

Performs recruitment activities, including writing or editing materials, and representing the school/college/department at admissions events and other forums.
