Department Custom Scope
The FAST Work Force Administration Unit provides payroll and human resource related services in a shared service center environment, including onboarding, offboarding, time reporting, payroll oversight, position management, personnel updates, case management (benefits, leave balances, accruals, etc.) and leave administration for our client base. Under the general supervision of the Work Force Administration Manager, the WFA Academic Personnel Analyst 3 will be responsible for providing analytical and administrative support in all areas of the academic personnel process including onboarding, offboarding, position management, merits and promotions, accruals, final payment, one time pays, and leaves for academic positions. The incumbent will partner with the Work Force Administration Unit Manager, Work Force Administration functional team, other Payroll Shared Service Centers, clients, and stakeholders to implement Lean Six Sigma principles to identify opportunities to continuously improve the effectiveness, accuracy, and delivery of services of the Work Force Administrative Unit.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Facilitates/manages the academic review processes, identifying issues relating to policy and compensation.
  • Serves as lead analyst for all academic actions (e.g. onboarding, offboarding, position management, merits and promotions, accruals, final payment, one time pays, and leaves). Audits workflow processes, ensures appropriate handoffs occur within the team and departments, and verifies that appropriate documentation is administered within associated processes including: onboarding, offboarding, position management, merits and promotions, accruals, final payment, one time pays, and leaves.

Provides strategic advice and counsel to unit head by analyzing and interpreting system-wide and organization policies, collective bargaining agreements, academic personnel procedures and practices.

Serves as lead on academic actions performed by Work Force Administration, provides training support to less experienced staff and may supervise student staff in the unit. Serves as the first point of contact for questions concerning academic processes and related systems. This includes onboarding, offboarding, position management, merits and promotions, accruals, final payment, one time pays, leaves, and oversight for distribution of Academic Appointment Letters and union information, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining unit agreement requirements.

Analyzes and interprets guidelines and policies to provide advice and counsel to unit clients on issues such as compensation, work-eligibility (visa) matters such as H1-B processing or PR application, and benefits considerations.
  • Works in conjunction with International Affairs on matters such as H1-B processing or PR application. Has a clear understanding of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services documentation requirements to show proof of identity and eligibility to work in the U.S.
