Custom Scope
Applies professional UC academic HR concepts, organization and/or system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.

Department Custom Scope
Under the general direction of the Director of the Academic Personnel Services Unit in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS), this position will provide critical analytical and administrative support for multiple departments within the College. The incumbent will be responsible for complex reviews and analyses concerning a variety of academic personnel actions. Activities will include the personnel process for academic appointees, from recruitment, then initial appointment through academic advancement, up to and including separation from the University. The incumbent will be expected to analyze problems fully, gather data and information, evaluate alternative solutions, interpret and implement academic personnel policies and procedures, and provide recommendations and guidance to the Dean, Divisional Deans, Department Chairs, and department staff. The incumbent will maintain a comprehensive level of knowledge of system-wide and campus academic personnel and Labor Relation policies and procedures. The incumbent will maintain confidentiality at all times and will provide the highest level of customer service to the College. The incumbent will serve as backup support in all areas to the other Academic Personnel Analysts in the Academic Personnel Services Unit in the College.

Under guidance from manager counsels faculty and other academic staff concerning work-related problems, work-eligibility (visa) matters such as J-1 processing, and benefits considerations.

Implements policies and programs in recruiting, instructional labor relations, wage and salary administration, and training.

Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) with particular knowledge in at least one area relevant to academic appointees. These subjects may include, but are not limited to: Leave of Absences (including FML), Sabbatical and Fellowship Leaves, Active Service Modified Duties, Stop the Clock, AP Recruit System (used for academic recruitments), eFile/eFilePlus System (used for the appointment, merit and promotion processes); Cooperative Extension Specialist series; LPSOE/LSOE series, Postdoctoral Scholar series; Unit 18 Appointees (i.e., Lecturers).
