Generic Scope
Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Directs the activities of community education professionals. Sets the short term goals and priorities, and provides day-to-day oversight and advice to staff on program development and delivery. Evaluates the performance of subordinates. Recommends changes to department policies and practices.

Department Custom Scope
The UCR College Corps (Program) is part of the #CaliforniansForAll Governor's initiative which provides up to 150 college students at UCR with opportunities to support and learn from organizations working in three priority areas: K-12 Education, Climate Action and Food Insecurity. At UCR, College Corps will be a partnership with California Volunteers; University of California, Riverside (UCR); the City of Riverside; and the Riverside Unified School District and funded via contributions from each partner. In coordination with the Executive Director of Educational and Community Outreach Programs, the College Corps Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering the UCR College Corps Program. Responsibilities include the implementation of the program, hiring, training, and supervision of staff, and managing the hiring, training, placement and daily management of approximately 150 program fellows each year. Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the UCR College Corps Director builds relationships and works with partner sites in the community that may include non-profit and government agencies, community groups and local businesses to implement various aspects and activities of the College Corps Program. The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant polices and regulations and submitting required reports and documentation. This position is grant funded. It is expected that the grant will run through July 2024 with a possibility of extension based on continued availability of funding.
