Generic Scope

Custom Scope
Uses professional community educational program concepts to deliver standardized educational and volunteer educational programs. Applies established procedures and programs to address county program educational needs that are limited in scope. Follows standard practices in analyzing program content and delivery needs and determining effectiveness of current programs. Receives detailed instructions on all assignments.

Department Custom Scope
The UCR College Corps (Program) is part of the #CaliforniansForAll Governor's initiative which provides up to 150 college students at UCR with opportunities to support and learn from organizations working in three priority areas: K-12 Education, Climate Action and Food Insecurity. At UCR, College Corps will be a partnership with California Volunteers; University of California, Riverside (UCR); the City of Riverside; and the Riverside Unified School District and funded via contributions from each partner. Under guidance by an Assistant Director (AD), the Fellow Engagement Assistant (FEA) maintains critical role to communicate and monitor engagement and activities of College Corps Fellows (Fellows). Responsibilities include the annual recruitment and onboarding of Fellows; collecting, organizing, and analyzing data on Fellow attendance and engagement; and communicating and engaging Fellows in their service assignments and in program activities. The FEA builds rapport and relationships with Fellows to ensure Fellows are actively serving and making timely progress towards their contract total by their end date. The AD will provide the FEA guidance and direction on recruitment and outreach priorities, the FEA will brief the AD on attendance and data trends indicative of Fellow engagement patterns. This position is a grant funded, starting in March 2022 and expected to run through July 2024 with a possibility of extension based on continued availability of funding and program performance.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Under direct supervision, prepares and delivers standardized community education lessons and activities and/or manages a volunteer education program.
  • Participates in the coordination, planning, and attendance of College Corps Pre-Service Orientation and monthly training sessions. Assists with delivering workshops and group activities related to performance benchmarks. Supports College Corps Fellows to connect to campus resources and to learn how to access and use their education award.

May provide assistance to volunteers.
  • Assists Assistant Directors with meeting and follow up of College Corps Fellows for individual and/or group support. Engages and follows up with Fellows to ensure timely input of data and tracking of activities that relate to program outputs and outcomes. Follows up with Fellows on timesheet matters, attendance, and performance matters under guidance of Assistant Directors.

Researches participant data to enhance program delivery and outcomes.
  • Reviews data reports on tutored minutes, community service involvement, volunteer recruitment, training attendance, and other Fellow outputs and outcomes to share reports to Assistant Directors. Identifies practices and patterns by College Corps Fellows per data collection.

Assists other program staff to recruit program participants to meet established enrollment and outcome requirements.
  • Participates in the identification, recruitment, screening and selection of applicants to ensure eligibility per grant regulation. Schedules, coordinates, and participates in recruitment efforts, such as tabling at UCR Nooners and other campus-wide events, posting flyers throughout campus, providing information sessions and application workshops. Assist with recruitment and onboarding processes, such as, but not limited to, managing communications with prospective applicants, sending applicant surveys and RSVPs for onboarding sessions and background check procedures.

Tracks and maintains required program-related paperwork, inventory, activity reports, and other documentation.
  • Uses program databases to input and track student information, attendance records, activity reports, and other program documentation. Maintains accurate and complete participant records.

Assists with planning special events in collaboration with program leadership and community partners, and works to establish relationships with new partners.
