Custom Scope
Independently oversees a comprehensive communications program for a unit or school with moderately complex communications requirements. The communications program usually includes written, visual, digital and electronic communications. Works with management to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategy. Designs and implements information campaigns.

Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the director of communications for the College of Natural & Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) at UC Riverside, this position will manage the day-to-day marketing, communications activities, and planning and execution of events for CNAS. This position is responsible for writing original communications content and producing print, web, visual, and digital content. Electronic publications for various internal and external audiences, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, prospective/admitted students, the UCR campus community, and the public. As an integral part of the CNAS communications team, this position will work closely with the CNAS director of communications, CNAS digital communications manager, members of the CNAS Dean's Office, faculty, staff, and students across CNAS and UCR, and external campus partners. This position will also publish newsletters, design and produce marketing collateral, collect outreach and usage analytics, and assist in maintaining the CNAS website, social media, and event calendar. This position will collaborate with college and campus partners to support events. This position is eligible for a hybrid working environment of on campus and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

Manages comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, digital, and electronic communications.
  • Interface with multiple college and campus clients to manage the design, production, and distribution of publications and other promotional materials, including digital materials, press releases, announcements, brochures, flyers, signage, etc. Strong writing and editing skills to quickly produce clear and concise documents for publication. Ensures production of high-quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints. Serves as a marketing writer and copy editor responsible for an array of digital and print collateral including emails, web microsites, brochures, flyers, programs, invitations, video scripts, slideshows, and more. Develops and writes engaging, reputation enhancing, mission-aligned stories for a variety of communication vehicles and edits and proofs stories written by staff, vendors, and students.

Works with management and clients to create, develop, and implement long and short term strategic communications plans and/or projects.
  • Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented with an expert ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and adjust to frequent changes and shifting priorities.

Advises and consults with departmental/college administration regarding all aspects of communications including developing strong communications strategies that effectively deliver the desired message, policy interpretation, and problem resolution.
  • Works closely with departmental colleagues and campus partners on content development, feedback and approvals, is proactive and adapts to shifting priorities and timelines, and prioritizes work on multiple projects. Strong interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening, and interpretive skills.
