Department Custom Scope
*The position is eligible for hybrid/remote accommodations* The Data and Reporting Analyst serves University Advancement by applying the best data integrity and security practices while fulfilling internal customer requests for data extracts and email blasts. Duties include improving data integrity by analyzing databases used in Advancement Services, including Raiser's Edge and Mailchimp databases, as well as the Raiser's Edge data warehouse. The position will develop strategies to ensure accurate data entry, correct data integrity issues, and execute or implement those strategies to ensure data integrity in the databases used in Advancement Services. This position also provides help-desk support and data set troubleshooting while advising internal customers of data security concerns and regulations. The Office of Constituent Management & Technologies is responsible for all aspects of University Advancement's technological systems, including the Advancement database Raiser's Edge; programming, reporting and data analysis; systems maintenance and upgrades, training, help desk, and other computer and cell phone support services. In addition, to support the programmatic needs of University Advancement and our campus partners by providing computer systems services to facilitate communication with alumni, friends, and donors. As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy.   • Participates in the implementation of enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Analyze institutional business needs, system resources, and end-user needs to improve existing data entry and input processes; provide input on how newly acquired data should be stored in the database to best meet user needs and be consistent with existing data.

Works with others in the implementation of database scripts, interfaces, and applications. Communicate Records Management policy and procedure changes to end-users as necessary. In addition, this position is responsible for producing reports, queries, mailing lists, etc., and providing other data services to Advancement Service's customers (e.g., Development Officers, Alumni & Constituent Relations, University Communications) so that they may accomplish their goals of engaging donors and alumni in the mission and philanthropic and academic goals of UCR.

Works on moderately sized databases with multiple tables and end users using basic database design and programming techniques.
  • Documents database operations and design. Use tools like SQL Server Management Studio to perform data analysis. Develop audit reports using SQL Server Reporting Service. Use Raiser's Edge API and Mailchimp's API to develop data validation routines to ensure data integrity at the point of data entry.

May interact with both members internal and external to their unit.
  • Analyze processes, create documentation, and collaborate with training staff in the development of end-user training materials. Serve as part of a team of who analyze database functionality, coding, and practices for continual improvement. Coordinate programmatic data correction, including data downloading, analyzing, programmatic correction, and uploading into an enterprise scale database environment for improving and enforcing data standards. Provide overall database analysis and development across a variety of platforms.
