Generic Scope

Custom Scope
Responsible for overall management of a campus' broadcast operation, which may be licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Responsibilities include comprehensive operational, fiscal, and personnel administration, including volunteers. Responsible for compliance with all applicable State and Federal rules and regulations.

Department Custom Scope
The UC Riverside Office of University Communications provides campus leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing communications programs that foster increased awareness, understanding, and support of UCR?s mission, vision, accomplishments, and needs among its many internal and external constituencies. The Director of Video and Photography establishes and executes a vision for effective video and photo communications to support the university's strategic goals. The position oversees all aspects of the University Communications video production and photography operation, which includes but is not limited to supervising staff and managing content creation, equipment and asset inventory, workflow, digital video and photo assets, and projects. Please note: finalists will be required to show a portfolio of their work. Additionally, the budgeted amount for this position is up to $117,000. This position is eligible for hybrid accommodations until 9/2022 with a longer-term hybrid option considered.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all phases of video production and photography, from identification and planning of projects to producing, shooting, and editing. Oversee multimedia content creation and visual storytelling.

Provides staff oversight that may include staff, students and outside volunteers; staff personnel administration including recruiting, selecting, evaluating, and, as necessary, taking corrective action.

Formulates approaches, policies, and procedures to address major station management, fiscal, and personnel issues.
  • In collaboration with Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, establish and implement the unit's goals, budget, and work plan each fiscal year.

Initiates identification, acquisition, and installation of broadcast production equipment.

Provides fiscal management, including financial report preparation and operating within budget constraints.
  • Assist in developing a budget for video/photo operations, training and professional development, and equipment. Oversee research, purchase, training, and maintenance of production equipment.
