Department Custom Scope
Reporting to Executive Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), the Project Policy Analyst will provide a range of duties and functions for the Office of Financial Planning & Analysis and in support of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning, Budget & Administration including assistance with policy creation, review and analysis for campus-wide financial policies; use of campus-wide personnel, financial and student data for brief, well-written reports and campus communications; drafts materials in the development of briefs, policy documents and other reports as needed; assists with the preparation of presentations/materials for both campus-wide and system-wide meetings including but not limited to the Regents meetings, Annual President meeting, UCR Town Halls or Leadership meetings; coordination with other campus organizations/units in the policy review, messaging and communications regarding high-profile campus-wide projects and initiatives; and other duties as assigned. Responsible for cataloging and maintaining the policies owned by the department, and developing communication strategies for developing and updating policies.

Key Responsibilities

Provides a variety of analytical duties in support of a function, research initiative, program and/or organizational unit.
  • Participates in the annual budget process and provides supervisor assistance with assigned set of units. Coordinates letters (call letter, approval letters, campus letter, etc.) and any training materials related to the budget process. Assists supervisor in the review of budget templates. Participates in department projects (F&A Rate Proposal) or department processes (Annual Budget Process).

Gathers and assembles analytical and factual data on assigned problems and issues to prepare reports and/or analyses summarizing information on the assigned issues and commenting on other significance for internal or external constituents.
  • Assists in creating materials required for the 5-year review of the current Budget Model (presentations, recommendation documents, surveys, etc.). Tracks feedback from campus constituents. Works with supervisor on the recommendation document and maintains the implementation documentation.

Participates in administrative/research policy and program project planning and development.
  • Catalogs and maintains the policies owned by the department. Assists with the communication strategy when new policies are developed or existing policies are updated.
