Department Custom Scope
The Covid-19 Testing Representative is a non-licensed professional providing support to students and employees under general supervision. This position has been developed to assist students and employees with performing COVID-19 testing as a means to prevent the spread of COVID-19; this position may require to work alone in the various COVID-19 testing sites as needed. Testing Representatives will support the UCR COVID-19 testing sites to complete the administration of testing including screening of faculty, staff and students administering a (saliva) or PCR (nasal swab) including antigen testing and safely storing specimens for testing, restocking sterile supplies, and assisting with registration or other stations as needed. This role is key to ensuring that the on-site location is a safe and healthy environment for all patrons. The position maintains quality results by following strict collection protocols, and procedures. Assists with data gathering with proper documentation, and maintaining daily tallies of collections performed. In addition, this position will assist with providing test results for people who were tested at the UCR COVID-19 Testing Center and schedule follow up appointments for UCR students/staff. This position will require prioritization, prompt action, and attention to detail in documentation and data management as multiple investigations and sample collections will be conducted simultaneously. The position will participate in ongoing training as new information is available and are required to follow all designated scripts and comply with policies and procedures provided by the UCR regarding confidentiality and data security for the handling of sensitive client information and protected health information. The position may require both onsite and telework activities, while complying with all requirements for client confidentiality, records, and data security.

Key Responsibilities

Testing Assistance -Check in individuals requesting testing. Electronic appointment check-in utilizing scheduling software and bar code scanners. Asks prompted health related questions and follows structured screening protocol. Teach test takers how to self-collect the sample. Observe specimen being collected to ensure proper sample collection. Read the test results and communicate the test result to the test taker. Record test results and demographic information via required databases. Maintain quality results by following strict collection protocols, and procedures

Test Site Responsibilities: Daily setup of materials, test stations, check-in, data collection, and recording station. Clean and sterilize testing space after each sample collection. Ensure testing area is operational and addresses or reports any issues immediately. Replenish sample collection materials on a daily basis. Ensure proper breakdown of testing area and storage of sample collection materials daily. Follow up with proper disinfection procedures after each individual. Ensure that swabs, gloves, other waste material is properly disposed of following all infectious disease safety protocols for interacting with the public and fellow workers. Daily delivery of human samples to laboratory at dedicated times and a proper temperature.

Safety/Sanitization: Ensure safety and sanitization procedures are adhered to as established and/or directed. Perform hand hygiene consistent with CDPH and Riverside County Department of Public Health protocols. Adhere to UCR Safety/Biohazard Standards.

Compliance & Training: Participate in ongoing training as new information is available. Follow all designated scripts. Comply with policies and procedures provided by UCR regarding confidentiality and data security for the handling of sensitive client information and protected health information. Complete required CDPH training, FRPA, HIPAA, any related training to handling student and employee?s data entry. Adhere to UCR policy and procedures during all activates. Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations. Participate in COVID-19 Task force meetings and training. Assist in all moves to set up new stations on campus. Provide support for the COVID Management Team (CMT) and student health for the verification of vaccine records through campus electronical medical records (EMR). Assist CMT in responding to emails inquiries, setting up files, data entry, data collection, conducting online research and minor data analysis.
