Generic Scope

Custom Scope
Independently oversees a comprehensive communications program for a unit or school with moderately complex communications requirements. The communications program usually includes written, visual, digital and electronic communications. Works with management to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategy. Designs and implements information campaigns.

Department Custom Scope
The Communications and Public Relations Director plays a key role in devising media communications, building public relations, overseeing AAPI Data?s social media, and developing strategic media initiatives to further advance the public presence of AAPI Data. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and highly collaborative leader with experience in developing and implementing communications strategies. Prior experience engaging with government agencies, elected officials, or community organizations is preferred. If chosen for interview, candidates will be asked to provide samples of prior work.

Works with management and clients to create, develop, and implement long and short term strategic communications plans and/or projects.
  • Develop and implement strategic communication and public relations strategies for AAPI Data.

Manages comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, digital, and electronic communications.
  • Lead AAPI Data?s brand development, storytelling, and strategy in all media formats. Manage AAPI Data?s brand aesthetic including creating a design style guide to unify the look and feel across platforms, reports, and other products. Ensure quality of all AAPI Data material by applying appropriate format and branding.

Advises and consults with departmental/college administration regarding all aspects of communications including developing strong communications strategies that effectively deliver the desired message, policy interpretation, and problem resolution.
  • Ensure effective use of communications, web, digital, and marketing tools.

Ensures production of high quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints.
  • Oversee report and product releases including managing press release and validator quote process, working with communications staff to set up release events whether virtual or in-person, following up releases with social media, and tracking media coverage.
