Custom Scope
Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional to coordinate AV, instructional technology services and delivery of customer service. Provides consultative advice to clients on technical, media presentation methods, techniques and equipment and intellectual property issues in instructional and special event settings. Analyzes technical, system, service delivery and/or business processes for efficiency and effectiveness. Reports and recommends changes.

Department Custom Scope
The Multimedia and Classroom Technology Coordinator serves on a team that supports and manages use of all instructional technology services for general academic course activity. Key areas of responsibility include planning, scheduling, and inventory management of the instructional technology A/V (audio/visual) equipment installed in campus classrooms with an emphasis on applications and systems that support remote and hybrid instruction. Scheduling will include oversight of a student workforce to deliver A/V services and provide in-person support for campus instructors. Application support will focus on maintaining custom campus configurations with digital asset management and video conferencing systems.

Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver's License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles in order to drive either University-owned vehicle or personal vehicle to various sites on UCR's general campus as well as off campus sites (e.g. Palm Desert campus). Required

Interviews and assesses client requirements for instructional technology and advises on appropriate technology to meet specific instructional activities. Provides consultative advice to clients on technical, media methods, techniques and equipment in order to enhance the quality of the presentation. Advises users on technical options. Plans and consults regarding the installation of new equipment and equipment upgrades.

Applies appropriate data collection methods to develop technical requirements for events and instruction. Develops standards, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent service delivery to clients. Develops user documentation, process improvements, or system design requirements. Coordinates special programs and projects in AV or instructional technology field, including media production, teaching with technology or web distribution. Works with a wide variety of media technologies, networks and computer hardware and software, applying appropriate solutions to non-standard problems.

Supports the use of applications and platforms for instruction including DAMS (digital asset management systems) and virtual meeting systems such as YuJa, Zoom, Teams, and Google services. These support activities include customizing system configurations to support the constantly evolving educational activities employed to deliver hybrid and remote instruction and maintaining awareness of continuing development online education techniques and emerging technologies.

Assists with the coordination and supervision of an approximately 50 member student technician workforce to deliver A/V support services for the campus with an emphasis on instruction.

Applies project management concepts in combination with AV IT policies and procedures in determining technical support work flow. Analyzes and interprets intellectual property (IP) policy and law and ensures that media meets IP requirements. Evaluates external content for compliance with unit and content posting standards. Assists in researching and evaluating new technologies.
