Custom Scope
Applies advanced concepts to lead and coordinate AV IT services for the most complex and significant events. Develops, documents, and implements policies, processes and work flow for the unit or services to include video-post production, digital editing, encoding, asset management, web distribution and intellectual property compliance issues. Communicates with high-level clients on events of most significance in terms of visibility and impact.

Department Custom Scope
The Multimedia & Classroom Technologies Operations Supervisor is responsible for support, processes, and procedures related to managing and maintaining technology in the University?s large venue areas, conference rooms, classrooms, labs, and for event support. This support is inclusive of working collaboratively across the University to define specifications, plan for changes, implement and maintain the technology for the defined use. Additionally, this position will collaborate across schools, departments and within IT to define effective standards, policies, processes and procedures for evaluation, acquisition, and ongoing management and maintenance of University technology spaces and assets to ensure the technology deployed in supported spaces throughout the University is working as designed while continually reviewing and refining documentation and policies for these assets. The incumbent will establish and maintain professional partnership relations with hardware and software vendors which enables early participation in testing and developing projects involving new and emerging technologies. The incumbent will, at times, represent ITS at campus-wide meetings and represent UCR at system-wide and off-campus meetings, seminars and conferences.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Performs highly complex assessments of client requirements for instructional technology and advises on appropriate technology. Assesses current or emerging technology and advises on its appropriate use for teaching and/or AV production. Acts as key resource for the most complex and critical AV IT technology set-ups, equipment failures and most sensitive clients.

Identifies and develops requirements and specific technical needs for most complex and significant events. Develops, documents and implements policy, processes and work flow for video-post production including digital editing, encoding, asset management, web distribution, intellectual property (IP) compliance, and communication with clients. Oversees standards and development of online support, user documentation and/or user requirements.

Develops training resources and plans with campuswide, medical centerwide and/or institution-wide scope. Participates on campuswide, medical center or Office of the President committees in varied subject areas pertaining to technology for education, research, and video production, programming, distribution and preservation. On-site lead to technical staff that perform video production or post-production processes including digital editing, encoding, asset management, and communication with client on the most complex and significant projects. Establishes the unit's standards for post-production quality. May oversee the recruitment, technical direction, scheduling and management of temporary event production staffing; establishes and ensures work quality standards. Provides input to strategic planning for the department.

Leads other career staff in settings goals and expectations for the team. Coordinates, trains, and coaches both career staff and student employees to provide general AV classroom maintenance, and technical support to high profile instructors and clients.

Analyzes and interprets intellectual property (IP) policy and law and ensures that media meets IP requirements. Leads and directs complex events. Researches and evaluates new technology. Recommends purchase of new technology systems including hardware, software and networked systems. Analyzes usage trends and user needs and advises on appropriate staffing requirements. Analyzes AV IT activities, units and functions and develops proposals affecting the ability of the unit to meet performance goals. Analyzes and develops costing, inventory and/or usage models for reporting and business planning.
