Works independently under general supervision.

Department Custom Scope
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Academic Programs, the Credential Analyst is responsible for advising students on the full range of California Teaching Credentials (CTC) and authorizations offered by University Extension. The position is responsible for adhering to all CTC Accreditation standards, reporting, data collections, and other requirements. Responsible for the implementation of new academic programming and maintenance of continued programming. This is done by means of scheduling courses, screening and selection of instructors, and coordinating teaching agreement administration with academic services. Responsible for budget planning and enrollment forecasting on a quarterly basis. Additionally, this position functions as administrative support to instructors, and may act as a liaison with industry partners, the K-12 education community, and campus.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Provides advice and assistance to students on all aspects of their academic experience, including progression and requirement matters for the department/school/college.
  • Includes making official credential recommendations on behalf of the students and their employer in the CTC recommendation system. Is an authorized recommender on behalf of UCR in all credential programs offered by UNEX and GSOE. Ensure accreditation standards, requirements, reporting, and data collection are consistently followed.

Assists faculty on determining course scheduling needs for student progression to graduation.
  • Assists in planning and scheduling course offerings and identifying course topics. Plan the sequence and timing of courses. Schedule courses to meet program requirements and the needs of students. Identify appropriate instructors for courses.

Advises new and continuing instructors on departmental/school/college and university policies and procedures.

Identifies students with GPA or progress problems, advises students, and recommends appropriate courses of action by the department/school/college (e.g., academic probation, dismissal).

Confirms that students have met requirements for degree completion when there are no clear precedents or articulations, such as interdisciplinary programs or when transfer work is involved.

Participates in planning academic curriculum in collaboration with chair/dean and faculty, and with other departments, to ensure student's progress through course sequences, avoid conflicts, and ensure compliance with organization-wide policies.
  • Collaborates with academic program coordinators to ensure CTC standards and program progression complies with accreditation requirements. Contributes to Accreditation cycle reporting and supports site visit and other accreditation activities for UNEX and GSOE.
