Custom Scope
Using professional student services theories and concepts, performs a limited range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life program. Works independently to provide information and interpretation of clearly defined policies, procedures and regulations. Receives direction regarding more complex issues and/or program(s). Identifies individual student needs for programs and services and advises on appropriate programs and resources.

Department Custom Scope
Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of the LGBT Resource Center, the Program Coordinator collaborates with the center staff to identify and respond to students? interests, issues, needs, and concerns. The Program Coordinator develops and coordinates a peer education program focused on LGBTQ+ knowledge, culture, and issues. Maintains operations within the center, including access to CyberCenter and Library resources; and helps maintain an appropriate climate within the center space. The Program Coordinator prepares materials for the LGBT Resource Center social media, marketing, and promotion. The Program Coordinator also helps to plan, implement, and evaluate cultural and educational programs and trainings. The incumbent supervises student employees, interns, and volunteers.

Under the guidance of higher level specialists resolves non-complex individual cases regarding student affairs or student life.
  • Coordinates and when necessary facilitates student supportive discussion groups. Works with center staff to ensure consistent and appropriate center climate.

Works with outside agencies to refer students to work in public service roles; identifies resources for student volunteer opportunities.
  • Interacts with students daily and assists them in navigating resources as they resolve emotional, academic, interpersonal, and other issues related to their identity or perceived identity. Assists students in accessing resources and volunteer opportunities in the wider campus community.

Serves as an advisor to a small student service operation (e.g., Bike Shop) which may include training students and staff, preparing budgets, and performing fiscal analysis.
  • Organizes trainings and retreats for peer education programs. Prepares a budget for yearly peer education programming. Assists with campus-wide trainings related to cultural competency.

Provides transactional advising and guidance to student leaders participating in student government, co-curricular programs and/or organizations on non-sensitive issues. Facilitates student development in leadership, communication skills, project coordination and in establishing goals.
  • Assists with developing skills of student employees, interns/volunteers, and student leaders. May include supervision.

Maintains relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders important to program success.
  • Develops and maintains resources information available for and to the University, regional and national contacts. Assists with center social media, web site, and e-communications.

Provides basic support services for a student program(s) and/or provides basic academic support services for a residential complex, which may include working in the following areas: a tutoring program, an on-site computer facility, a course/learning skills program, and a faculty involvement program.
