Department Custom Scope
The Director of Ticketing for intercollegiate Athletics will manages the day-to-day ticketing operations for the Athletics Department. This position will actively manage timelines/execute plans to hit revenue and ticketing goals for fiscal year including Including ticket packages and single game tickets for Men?s and Women?s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Men?s and Women?s Soccer, Women?s Volleyball, Track and Field/Cross Country. This role will assist with creating results-driven sales strategies, ticketing manifests, and is expected to drive outbound call volume, sales revenue, and face-to-face meetings around various ticket sales campaigns. Responsible for driving ticket sales to grow revenue for the Department of Athletics, Monitor, analyze and interpret ticket sales data, financial settlements, revenue generation ticket software maintenance, marketing campaigns and providing assistance in the area of event management. Responsible for ensuring all requirements of the job are executed consistently and efficiently. Responsible for providing supervision of the ticket and event operations student staff. Work in collaboration with the Athletics Business Office (ABO) for reporting and reconciliation of ticket sales. Responsible for working with the ABO to ensure the necessary internal controls and cash management follow the University policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Coordinates activities including events and promotional materials and products designed to promote awareness of the department and/or campus and/or medical center services, programs or products within the campus and/or medical center community or to the general public.
  • Coordinate all aspects of ticketing for each home athletic or special event, including but not limited to ticket availability to customers during specified business hours via phone or walk-in; in collaboration with the Athletics Business Office prepare and reconcile ticket sales reports and deposits; audit tickets from other institutions and coordinate with other institutions ticket managers regarding visitor tickets and seating arrangements needed.

Researches, analyzes, monitors and evaluates sales efforts for effectiveness, reporting results to appropriate higher levels of administration.
  • Lead, monitor and manage progress of sales towards goals and objectives. Responsible for daily supervision and training of student workers and/or temporary staff. Develop sales goals and implement ideas, programs and strategies to sell a variety of ticket products (season, mini plans, groups, etc.) for all ticketed sports. Further develop and continue to implement effective lead management strategy.

In collaboration with the Athletics Business Office, coordinate all financial and accounting functions of the ticket office including budgeting, reconciling, and preparing game settlements; create and implement sound accounting procedures with appropriate internal controls for ticket operations and inventory control which provide reasonable assurance that operations are efficient and effective, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are followed. Work directly with the Assistant Athletics Director of Operations and Ticketing to produce periodic and up-to-date ticket sales reports for both season ticket and individual game ticket sales; compile and analyze data on ticket and souvenir sales, income projections, pricing strategies, year-to-year comparisons, and trends.

Creates, develops, produces and coordinates public events, including securing private corporate sponsorship as required.
  • Develop season ticket plans for baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball and volleyball working closely with marketing to meet ticket sales goals; maintain season ticket database for each sport; develop annual season ticket application and coordinate distribution; coordinate production and distribution of all tickets; assign season ticket seat locations per policy; solicit season ticket prospects; print and distribute season tickets for all applicable sports.

Manage all consignment tickets received and distributed; issue and control all complimentary tickets in accordance with NCAA, Big West Conference and UCR guidelines; directly manage game day ticket operations at events where the attendance or complexity of the event dictate the presence of a ticket manager; oversee necessary ticket operations at events such as the Big West and NCAA championship events; process group ticket sales and assist in the coordination of related promotions;

Contacts new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound customer activity and adapt to changes in call volume, emails or chats to effectively delegate to team; manage workload. Ensure all service requests and sales inquiries are resolved in a timely manner. Resolve escalated issues in a timely and professional manner staying within the UC Riverside Athletics ticketing policies. Develop sales plans for single game and group for all ticketed sports

Researches and analyzes new and innovative methods for generating sales revenue and develops implementation proposals.
  • Assist in the development of regular, efficient and effective sales reporting that includes but is not limited to individual sales, team progress toward goals, lead management, timely handling of phones, email, online leads, etc. Assist in the development of promotional calendars and ensure accurate communication of promotional efforts to customers.

Builds relationships with outside (non-campus and/or medical center affiliated) companies and organizations.
  • Consistently work to improve accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency in communicating with fans. Regularly monitor sales information on web for accuracy. Collaborate with and inform internal staff regarding pricing changes and messaging regarding ticket sales calendars. Assist in the development of messaging designed to improve the fan experience and inform fans about ticket on sales, promotions, ticket policies, etc.

Develop and maintain a policies and procedures manual for the ticket operation; assist the Assistant Athletics Director of Operations and Ticketing with developing and presenting training materials to part time and student staff as it relates to ticketing and guest services; represent the Athletics Department to the public with courtesy and diplomacy; assist with promotional activities as appropriate. Develop the seating chart with the ticketing system. Work with internal marketing team.

Manage ticketed home events at the SRC Arena, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Track Stadium and AG/OPS Cross Country course events . Responsible for creating and implementing a customer friendly purchasing process. Manage numerous student staff and game day staff. Be an integral member of the External Operations team that works to increase student and fan experience. Collaborate with the Athletic Development staff to aid Athletic Association Club membership efforts. Research, develop, and test mathematical models for sales forecasting. Responsible for weekly and game-by-game ticket sales reporting.
