Custom Scope
Uses advanced administrative concepts and organization objectives to resolve complex issues. Manages, plans, administers and coordinates administrative operations of a small to mid-sized academic or non-academic department or organizational unit, the operations of which are significantly complex and/or broad in scope. Typically reports to a Chair, Director, or equivalent administrative management. Performance of administrative operations activities are the predominant focus of position; may supervise support staff or small number of professional staff within or outside the scope of main business activities (e.g., student services, facilities, etc.). Performs short and long term planning for the function. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals result in additional costs, and serious delays in overall schedules.

Department Custom Scope
The K-16 Inland Empire (IE) Collaborative Director is responsible for planning, executing, and managing the programs as set forth in the Regional K-16 Collaborative grant proposal. The Director will work closely with Growing Inland Achievement (GIA), Riverside County Office of Education, and San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools that will serve as co-convenors on behalf of additional regional partners. The partners include all 12 Inland Empire/Desert regional community colleges, California State University, San Bernardino, a myriad of private non-profit colleges and universities, K12 school districts, non-profit organizations, and business and workforce partners. The incumbent will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and communicate with multiple stakeholders including UCR's Chancellor and the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). The Director will work with grant partners to deploy and implement programs that incorporate educational, community, workforce, and employer engagement in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties to support equitable educational and economic opportunities for students and address equity barriers in career and technical education pathways in the areas of Healthcare, Engineering and Computing, Business, and Education. The Director will be responsible for budget management, analysis, and evaluation of the program. The Regional K-16 Collaborative Grant is in year 1 of a 4 year grant and the position may be extended based on funding and project needs.

Key Responsibilities

Manages, plans, and administers a full range of administrative operations in a small to medium academic department, or a small to medium non-academic department or program, where operations are significantly complex in terms of budgetary funding, number of faculty, staff and students, and/or are broad in scope due to focus of operations (e.g., computer or wet lab space and equipment, fundraising, grant writing, etc.).
  • Designs, develops and manages key K-16 educational and community partnerships and oversees execution of major initiatives and pathways. The K-16 Program focuses on creating streamlined pathways from high school to postsecondary education and into the workforce.

Oversees the collection, analysis and evaluation of student, partner, and program data to document program toward established goals and objectives.

Administrative operations include budgetary financial management and human resources and may include some of the following functions: IT, facilities, student services, recharge administration and/or contracts and grants.
  • Oversee, manage, and process subawards to pathway groups.

Represents the department on business issues to the institution community and serves on committees.
  • Establishes and builds effective partnerships across all stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, teachers, senior school district administrators, community members, regional entities and other partners. Organizes and coordinates arrangements for committees and meetings, solicit calls for agenda items, compiles appropriate background materials.

Develops strategies for organization leadership review and decision and develops and implements academic preparation and educational partnership programs that reflect grant program objectives.

Review new information and developments in K-16 and higher education policies and issues and analyzes their impact on program strategies, deliverables, and outcomes. Makes recommendations and proposals based upon this analysis.
