The Senior Director of Development (Snr. Director of Development) is the chief advancement officer supporting fundraising efforts for UCR University Extension. The Extension divisions of the University of California are unique units in the 10-campus system, focusing primarily on non-degree credentials?especially Professional Certificates and Postgraduate Diplomas?for learners of all ages. UCR University Extension?s programs serve high schoolers through academic credit courses, college students with transfer courses and add-on credentials, and working adults who are looking to change or move up in their careers. University Extension also serves adults who have some college but no degree through a state-funded degree completion program. University Extension?s programs span business, design, education, healthcare, law, sustainability, and technology and programs are geared towards both domestic and international students. University Extension has two physical locations: one near the campus of UCR in Riverside and the other at the Palm Desert Center in Palm Desert. Established in 2005, the UCR Palm Desert Center serves as a base for several UCR research programs, international academic conferences, continuing education and a variety of public service programs, and is a resource to extend the reach of UCR in the Coachella Valley. A key priority and focus for the Snr. Director of Development, will be expanding UCR's presence in the Coachella Valley by actively engaging in the local community, and building a network that will help drive advancement efforts in the desert region. Under the general direction of the Snr. Executive Director for Constituency Programs, and in close collaboration with the Dean of UCR Extension and University Extension?s Senior Leadership team, the Snr. Director will develop and execute long and short-term strategies to grow the UCR Extension donor pipeline and secure annual and major gifts that will benefit endowments, programs, and support student success. The Snr. Director will manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors and will travel locally, statewide and occasionally internationally, for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship purposes. The Snr. Director will arrange appropriate opportunities for key faculty and academic leadership to meet with prospective donors and will work collaboratively with other University Advancement colleagues to achieve fundraising goals. Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Manages a portfolio of donor prospects that include the most influential, complex or highest capacity-rated donors. May maintain and manage portfolio(s) of senior campus leadership including the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor.
  • Incumbent will build, grow and manage an individual portfolio of prospective donors capable of giving at the major gift level of $25,000 or more to UCR. Responsible for having a comprehensive understanding of university priorities, and regularly meeting with prospective donors and working collaboratively with University Advancement colleagues and academic partners to achieve fundraising goals. Works closely with the University Extension Dean and the Senior Leadership team to engage domestic and international alumni. The Snr. Director will work to expand UCR's presence and network in the Coachella Valley by identifying and actively engaging in community relations in the Palm Desert area. Responsible for preparing briefing materials and gift proposals, attending events, and staffing and/or supervising projects as assigned. Utilizing a high level of professionalism the Snr. Director of Development will work closely with institutional leadership such as college deans, Directors of Development, University Advancement departments.
