Custom Scope
Advanced leader for large, complex and diverse non-credited recreational or sports program(s), including responsibility for programmatic and budget oversight and planning. Regularly works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Typically leads or supervises other staff or students.

Department Custom Scope
The FitWell Coordinator is a key member of the Recreation Department Fitness program leadership team. Major responsibilities include the development, management, supervision, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Group Exercise program, the Group Fitness Instructor Training (GFIT), and massage program areas. Assist in the oversight and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the Recreation Department Fitness facilities, and assist the Assistant Recreation Director - FitWell with all other aspects of the Recreation FitWell program portfolio. The FitWell Coordinator works in close collaboration with all Recreation Department staff and other campus partners to create a campus climate of wellness and to provide fitness and wellness related services and programming to all members of the campus community to help them achieve their fitness and wellness goals.

Current certification in one of the following: Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA); American Council on Exercise (ACE); American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM); National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA); or International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). Required

Participate as a member of various University of California, Riverside Fitness and Wellness Committees. Attend continuing education workshops for nationally certified group exercise instructors and personal trainers. Present at professional conferences and workshops. Travel to other institutions to learn about and evaluate the policies, procedures, challenges and successes.
