Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the Membership Services Manager, the incumbent will provide excellent customer service and manage the daily cash transactions for goods and services initiated at the Student Recreation Center (SRC) access counters. Services include SRC memberships, class and activity registrations, programs/events, and Pro Shop goods. Cashiering totals of approximately $500,000 annually. The Membership Services Assistant will also be responsible for enforcing the SRC access control policies and assisting SRC users with any access issues. In addition, the incumbent will assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of student employees.

Cashiering Experience: Two years of cash handling experience including daily balancing, deposit preparation and the use of electronic data POS units. Skill in handling currency as well as making comparisons and computations quickly and accurately. Required
Supervisory Experience: Experience in a supervisory role responsible for hiring, training, disciplining, and evaluating the performance of assigned personnel. Required
UC Online Systems Experience: Demonstrated experience with UCR systems and applications (i.e. Banner, CCRRS, etc.). Preferred
Experience in supervising students in a higher education environment. Preferred

Cashiering Operations - Provide excellent customer service to the Student Recreation Center's (SRC) users to meet their cashiering needs. Provide assistance, training, and support to the student employees who collect payments and issue receipts on the sales of products and services which includes: SRC memberships, recreation class registrations, program services/activities, Pro Shop items, and special events. Maintain organization, neatness, and appearance of POS units. Assist Member Services Manager in solving problems with daily balancing of POS units. Perform calculations to verify account balances and credits at POS units. Process online payments. Prepare reconciled funds for bank deposit.

Student Staff Support - Supervise student employees in the collection, recording, and security of deposits and payments received from SRC users over the counter and online. Supervise student employees in transacting/use of the Fusion Innosoft (software application for SRC membership/access, recreation class registrations, and department program activities and services). Assist the Member Services Manager with the supervising and directing activities of approximately (35) student employees including: hiring, evaluating performance, assigning work, and training. Provide support to student staff in the areas of membership services, equipment check-out, and dissemination of departmental and program information.

Administrative Tasks - Input, edit, and maintain member accounts with the Recreation department. Run daily reports for program managers. Receive and direct incoming calls; take messages and make appropriate referrals. Greet visitors. Maintain accurate records and logs of class registrations. Assist users at the access counters; research and provide initial response to access and service related issues. Troubleshoot and make decisions using judgement and policy. Order and maintain inventory of general sports equipment for open recreation use. Assist Facility Scheduling Coordinator with the completion of Recreation's Big Bear lake house rental process which includes: collecting fees, issuing keys, and final customer service support.
