Department Custom Scope
The UCR School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Sponsored Research and Programs (SRP) is seeking an extremely organized professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills to serve as a Project Analyst. The incumbent will provide support to fellow SRP analysts and managers on the preparation of proposals for federal, state, and foundation grants and contracts that support SOM research and educational programs. Areas of support will include the careful analysis of grant and contract language in order to create logs and timelines to meet upcoming deadlines; organizing documents to ensure all required pieces are received; referencing back-up documentation to identify missing information in templates and forms; and completing drafts of required documentation to present to senior analysts for review and approval. With supervision, the incumbent will also assist with award financials which includes the processing of basic transactions and may include the drafting of grant budgets. SRP's customer audience includes a complement of SOM units (Dean's Office, the Division of Biomedical Sciences, the Division of Clinical Sciences, Center for Healthy Communities, Student Affairs, Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education), as well as collegial collaborators, external business partners, and community-based organizations.

Learns to prepare preliminary outlines for the conduct of analysis and accomplishment of assigned objectives.
  • Under close supervision, researches and gathers information from a variety of written sources; prepares and summarizes information and reports. Creates and maintains tracking logs for departmental deadlines and projects, grant proposals, and outstanding documents necessary for submission.

Learns to gather and assemble analytical and factual data.
  • Analytical and factual data will include forms, templates, and documents, paying special attention to noted terms and conditions for a variety of awards, including contracts and grants. Performs routine data entry, which includes the entry of budgets and proposal information into the appropriate grant portal.

Supports program or project staff to gather information and support program objectives.
  • Supports managers and fellow analysts in acquiring and/or assisting in completing necessary documentation and forms for grants and subcontracts. Communicates with UCR/SOM faculty, staff, and students, as well as with collaborating analysts/faculty at non-UCR institutions, in order to move the process along in a timely manner. Liaises with personnel in Central UCR departments including the Office of Research and EMF Accounting.
