Generic Scope
Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. |

Department Custom Scope
The purpose of the Assistant Director of Nonresident Recruitment and Evaluation is to oversee all aspects of out-of-sate recruitment and application evaluation for both freshman and transfer populations with the UCR Undergraduate Admissions Office. In concert with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the incumbent is responsible to annually develop a strategic plan in line with the campus and Enrollment Services strategic plans to meet nonresident enrollment objectives. Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the incumbent supervises full-time Admission Specialists who collectively are responsible for the recruitment of freshman and transfer applicants to UCR. This position will require out-of-state travel to recruit prospective and admitted students by providing oversight at various programs and events as well as participation in consortium travel and conferences. |
