Department Custom Scope
Participates with other counselors, the Assistant Director, and Associate Director in the ongoing development and enhancement of the UCR Financial Aid Office processing system (Banner) and ScholarshipUniverse; Maintains scholarship records; presents financial aid information both on and off-campus to groups of students, campus partners, and donors, Active contributor to discussions and recommends change when appropriate to better meet the needs to the populations served; Uses an understanding of the special needs and problems experienced by students from disadvantaged backgrounds and address these needs by offering supportive guidance; Composes correspondence to students and other clients relative to aid eligibility and office policy and procedures; performs special assignments and other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid, Associate Director, or Assistant Director.

Develops new, or makes changes to existing, financial aid forms and work-flow routing. Creates annual processing schedule.
  • Develop policies, procedures, deadlines, annual cycles, and other management tools to implement UC Riverside's scholarship programs from application to award.

Coordinates, implements, evaluates, and reports on very complex, specialized government, agency, University, or donor aid programs.

Works with internal and external organizations to develop program policies and coordinate procedures. Interprets regulations, and develops or recommends procedures to ensure compliance and accurate aid delivery.
  • Ensures effective partnerships with various agencies and organizations that award scholarships to UC Riverside students, by serving as the main point of contact with those organizations related to the marketing, selection, and awarding of their scholarships.

Provides individual counseling on and recommends resolution of extremely sensitive, specialized and/or complex issues. Exercises professional judgment to authorize exceptions to policies, changes in financial aid awards or additional funding.

Performs needs analysis, assesses eligibility, and exercises professional judgment to determine allocation of aid awards under complex, specialized regulations or for escalated cases. Recommends packaging policies and strategies for allocation of awards to groups of students.

Analyzes exception reports to determine necessary changes in programming or procedures to allow automated packaging of aid. Reconciles complex student data from multiple sources. Identifies difficult-to-resolve mismatches and errors from external and internal sources. Identifies programming or procedural changes needed to prevent errors.
  • Troubleshoot and identify solutions to address system issues that may arise when performing various functions within ScholarshipUniverse. Develop procedural guidelines related to the use of the program, its annual setup, and the resolution of errors. Notify management and submit help desk tickets for identified software flaws, defects or issues.

Co-chairs department committees or provides advanced expertise to plan and coordinate policy and procedure changes.

Serves as expert resource on specialized programs and related regulations and policies.
  • Manages the UCR Merit Scholarship awarding process and seasonal set up of awards in the MYUCR system.

  • Sets priorities in collaboration with the Director of Financial Aid and campus partners. Manages workflow to fulfill objectives and meet agreed-upon goals according to deadlines in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

Identifies and implements database elements, queries, and reports needed to monitor complex programs. Analyzes reports to resolve programming errors.

Uses knowledge of the applicable rules and standards of the Pacific 10 Conference, the NCAA, and other associations and agencies to avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
