Custom Scope
Specialized and skilled leader for a non-credited recreational or sports program. Creates and implements recreational programs for participants of all ages and may serve as a lead or mentor for other program instructors and may be required to provide instruction. Program leaders at this level are required to demonstrate considerable discretion, initiative and independence to resolve issues and perform other duties as assigned.

Department Custom Scope
The Recreation Activity Support Coordinator position primarily provides supervision and support to the Student Recreation Center during evening and night time operations. The incumbent will also assist in managing on site aspects of special events, activity classes, intramurals and competitive sports, and other projects/responsibilities as assigned. During the summer months this position will primarily assist the Youth Activities and Events with their summer youth camps.

Key Responsibilities

Implements program policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the nightly closure of facilities and maintains the security of SRC equipment, staff, and facilities. Develops procedures and accountability measures to ensure buildings are closed correctly when not in-person. Ensures that equipment is moved and stored correctly after events so that the equipment is accessible, maintained properly, organized, clean, and safe. Organizes staff?s safe exit of the SRC by having students walk in groups or receive rides. Ensures the safe closure of events at the SRC and responds to issues. Keeps storage rooms clean, organized, and navigable. Monitors inventory and reports on the status, quantity, and location of equipment with varying longevity. Takes the lead on responding to injuries, emergencies, and conflicts in the building during evenings and nights. Mitigates issues amongst patrons. Assist in managing/supporting all SRC student staff during evenings/nights. Monitors Activity Classes and edits REACH schedule during evenings and nights. Ensures activity classes are set up properly, instructors are prepared, and patrons are well informed. Updates REACH and opens spaces when events/classes end earlier than expected. Provide on-site nightly support to instructors with issues or specific set-up needs. Provide on-site support to student office assistants with current class rosters ensuring that everyone in room has paid for the class. Monitor nightly multi-purpose room use and provide conflict resolution with open rec users vs. confirmed reservation holders.

Support year-round youth programming: Assist will all aspects of youth summer camps at the direction of the Assistant Director of Youth Activities & Events. Assist with year-round camps of up to 100 youth at a time. Assist with logistics of after school enrichment programming including leadership program, archery, soccer, Zen studio, art, drama and more. Support Assistant Director of Youth Activities & Events in staff training, supervision, teambuilding, hiring and administrative duties.

Plans, organizes and implements recreational programs.
  • Monitors/Supports Intramural and Club Sports during evening and nights. Ensures proper set up of activities including, but not limited to: volleyball nets, scoreboards, bleachers, speakers, etc. Serve as a backup; supporting staff in cases of injury/incident response. Assist in monitoring/supporting weekend events/tournaments.

Schedules use of recreational facilities and advises and assists individuals and groups with problems related to scheduled recreational activities.
  • Special Event Support during evening and nights: Assist in the on-site supervision of events and event staff during night time operations as needed. Assist in the on-site support/monitoring for event breakdowns or set up. Serve as an on-site Events representative for vendor arrival/departure during event set ups and breakdowns.
