Custom Scope
Independently oversees a comprehensive communications program for a unit or school with a large, complex communications program requiring a wide variety of communications media, including written, visual, digital and electronic, and associated technical applications. Works with management to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategy for a highly visible program.

Department Custom Scope
The AAPI Data project at the University of California, Riverside seeks a Director of Communications to join their team. The Director of Communications works to advance data equity -- that institutions and organizations commit the resources and commitments necessary to ensure equity in how population data is collected and reported, including disaggregated data by ethnicity, gender, and other categories. The Director of Communications partners with government agencies, community organizations, news organizations, research centers, and private philanthropy to support pathways for greater data equity. Reporting to the Deputy Director of AAPI Data, the Director of Communications develops and implements strategies to dissemination of research and data to inform public discourse and decision-making. Strong candidates for the role are adept packaging data and research for a general audience, have experience working with reporters at major news outlets (such as New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post), and have a working knowledge of how data can shape narrative. The Director of Communications is expected to bring excellent project management skills, with a track record of managing multiple collaborative projects in a fast-paced environment. Candidates most likely to succeed in this role bring a commitment to equity and inclusion and a relationship-based approach to all that they do. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience working on issues that impact the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. This position is fully remote, located anywhere in the United States.
