Custom Scope
Applies advanced project management frameworks and methods and campus, medical center or Office of the President objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. Manages projects of broad and diverse scope, size, impact, budget and / or project team size, with considerable impact to the organization. Projects may be passed off to the owners to implement and maintain. Requires level of expertise in project management such as project management certificate and / or quality improvement processes like Six Sigma or Lean or equivalent project management experience.

Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the CFAO for the UCR School of Medicine (SOM), the Project Manager will manage projects with a high degree of autonomy. They will be responsible for managing and overseeing projects from inception to implementation, for the Finance and Administration (F&A) unit, while ensuring they are completed timely and within budget. Additionally, they will be responsible for chairing or co-chair project meetings, in partnership with CFAO, administering all projects under the CFAO's purview, developing project plans, charters and timelines with clear deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Implements or oversees the project management process for the campus, medical center or Office of the President?s products and services involving diverse departmental or cross-functional teams.
  • Creates, manages complex project plans, and teams with a high degree of indepence. Ensures project deliverables and completion dates are met. Works within the respective project teams to fully understand requirements, timelines, and resources for each project, and then applies advanced project management frameworks to executes on those parameters. Coordinate cross-functional activities and decisions with other SOM and UCR units across campus. Proactively oversees and evaluates project activities, builds contingency plans to mitigate risks. Resolves complex issues. Leads project teams to ensure the development of clear and detailed project plans, with periodic assignments of specific tasks to team members.

Applies advanced project management concepts with a full understanding of project management practices and policies and procedures to manage complex projects. Provides analysis and status tracking for highly complex, project-related issues.
  • Provides analyses for complex budget, financial, academic, data, systems and resource projects working directly with all levels of managers. Analyzes and reports on performance data to guide the project teams towards meeting KPI metrics.
