Department Custom Scope
The Per Diem Senior Radiologist Technician is a member of the UCR Student Health Services (SHS). UCR SHS provides comprehensive medical services to support the health and wellness needs of our highly diverse student body. Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, this position performs radiologic procedures and administrative functions for the Student Health Radiology Unit. Independently perform duties/tasks as outlined. Meet as needed with the Chief Medical Officer or designee to discuss operations and concerns. Please Note: This position's classification and salary range are currently under review. The anticipated classification is 8990 RADLG TCHNO SR PD with a step rate of $52.44 an hour.

Graduate of radiology technology training program approved by the American Medical Association or equivalent training. Required

18 months of experience in radiologic technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Required
Demonstrated experience working in a college or university environment. Preferred

Licensure by State of California, Department of Health Services, as Certified Radiologic Technologist. Required

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Technical/Ancillary Ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulator standards, service needs of SHS and its patients, and standards established by the Chief Physician. Perform radiological studies adhering to accepted technical and safety standards, e.g. proper positioning of the patient. Select proper technical factors and program equipment accordingly to produce optimal radiographic image and ensure quality control standards. Develop film using standardized processing methods. Provide radiation safety protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Ensure orderliness and cleanliness of all areas to optimize care services. Direct patient flow to ensure prompt provision of services. Monitor and ensure appropriate and accurate use of automated systems used by the unit. Participate in assessing film selection and other technical factors to attain optimal results. Introduce new imaging technologies and product innovation as directed, and in cooperation with Chief Physician, Providers, and staff.

Administrative and Support Responsibilities Ensure practice of customer service and continuous quality improvement philosophies. Train new per-diem staff before they are able to cover for sick and vacation as well as ongoing training when new systems are utilized. Review work of per-diem staff for peer review purposes. Provide and review statistics on utilization with input from the business operations manager. Support ongoing coverage for unit operations. Using judgment and discretion, problem solve, resolve issues related to SHS Radiology. Maintain ongoing awareness of industry standards. Maintain all safety standards and regulations, as needed to pass inspection from the California Department of Public Health and The Acreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Arrange for transportation of patients as needed.
