Generic Scope
Oversees through subordinate managers a large department or multiple smaller units, OR manages a highly specialized technical function/team. Has significant responsibility to achieve broadly stated goals through subordinate managers. Determines objectives, directs programs, develops strategies and policies, manages human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a high degree of autonomy. Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Determines strategies for a program with organization-wide impact.

Custom Scope
Manages a moderately complex fundraising program. Assignments typically require managing a fundraising staff comprised of several professionals and related administrative support staff. Position is responsible for the full range of development programs and has responsibility for other external relations functions, such as events, volunteer coordination and management and other marketing activities. May oversee and manage personal donor portfolios.

Department Custom Scope
The Senior Executive Director, Central Programs (SED) reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Development (AVCD) and serves on the senior development leadership team. The incumbent will oversee development officers on the central team including , Annual Giving, Regional & Pipeline Development, Athletics, and Student Affairs. In conjunction with the AVCD and the senior development leadership team, the SED will help create a holistic, strategic, and thoughtful approach for the development operations within core Central Programs. The incumbent will manage senior fundraising staff to set priorities, annual goals, and staff performance metrics required to meet long-term, major strategic fundraising objectives and support the overall goals of UC Riverside Advancement. The incumbent will need to thoughtfully balance providing targeted and strategic support to school and unit based fundraising teams, while also building fundraising capacity and prospect pipeline for central priorities. The SED will foster a culture of accountability around annual fundraising for the annual giving, regional and pipeline development, athletics, and student affairs teams, to help these teams define metrics and develop strategies to drive results. The incumbent will hold a portfolio and will be expected to fundraise a minimum of $1M annually.
