Department Custom Scope
The Development and Marketing Coordinator, Gift Planning position executes and manages strategic marketing and communications efforts, including donor stewardship and engagement communication and events, for the Office of Gift Planning at UCR. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, Gift Planning, the Coordinator will collaborate with campuswide development units and college representatives to design and deliver marketing content to educate and promote interest in planned gifts across all disciplines. Responsibilities also include donor pipeline growth through new lead generation, discovery, and qualification conversations with prospective donors; legacy donor stewardship and communication programming; management of legacy donor data sets and data upkeep at the direction of the Senior Director; strategic event management; and targeted prospecting using available donor insights to optimize marketing, communication, and stewardship efforts. Success will be measured against a series of established metrics based on team strategic goals and responsibilities for the year. Overall, the Office of Gift Planning will be positioned as a growth department with attention placed on increasing the number of legacy society donors, the number and value of deferred and outright planned gifts, interactions and engagement with current legacy society donors, and training opportunities for internal and external stakeholders in the area of charitable estate planning.

Key Responsibilities

Implements established components for fundraising and alumni relations programs and activities; plans, administers, and implements a well-defined or established fundraising program requiring the exercise of limited discretion and judgment.
  • Guided by a well-defined strategic plan, generates donor and prospect reports to inform outreach efforts and increase program ROI. Coordinates digital, print, and social marketing components to increase visibility of the Gift Planning program and to communicate the value of charitable gift planning to donors. Follows up on lead generation to ensure timely responses and qualification conversations.

Drafts informational and marketing materials for review of assigned programs.
  • Under the leadership of the Senior Director, manages all aspects of marketing for the Office of Gift Planning while staying within budget. Using available tools, programs, and database systems, effectively designs and/or modifies marketing materials to highlight critical content, maintain UCR brand standards, and ensure accuracy of print and other digital assets. Will work frequently with UCR communications partners, outside vendors, and website provider to coordinate marketing campaigns.

Develops and maintains reports on program activities and results, providing information on program trends and learning to provide basic analysis of data.
  • Conducts regular audits of legacy society data and electronic files to ensure that donor digital and paper records are updated and accurate. Records, analyzes, and reports marketing data insights, making recommendations to reform or enhance program strategy as needed to meet and exceed goals.

Assists in the organizing and implementation of special events. Handles special projects/assignments involving direct interaction with alumni volunteers and donors.

Responsible for maintaining Raisers Edge records. Ensure that all relevant information about donors and prospects is entered correctly. Generate regular reports (e.g. mailing lists, action items, and giving history).

Provides high-level administrative support coordinating and communicating with donors and key gift planning partners. Provides timely service to donor and development officer requests and inquiries. Maintains a comprehensive electronic filing and records system.
