Department Custom Scope
The Division of Undergraduate Education (UE) engages students and instructors with resources that promote academic excellence, enable student success and enhance the undergraduate student experience. The incumbent reports to the Director of the Center for Undergraduate Research & Engaged Learning, who oversees a portfolio that includes high-impact educational programs including student-led courses, undergraduate research, experiential learning, prestigious scholarships, and leadership development. The incumbent is a highly effective professional, with proven skills in enhancing, evaluating, marketing, and scaling existing programs; has outstanding organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple priorities; and thrives in a fast-paced work environment. The incumbent will collaborate with off-campus partners, UE personnel, colleges, associate deans, academic senate committees, faculty members, student affairs managers, academic advisors, and other campus colleagues to implement high-impact educational programs that promote student engagement and academic excellence. These include, but are not limited to EXCEL + Career Readiness, Campus Collective Mentorship Program, Community Engaged Learning, and leadership development programming, and other emergent programming in relevant areas. Requires a thorough understanding and sensitivity to the issues and challenges faced by higher education in the state and nation, and UC Riverside, which is an institution designated as an MSI, HSI, HSRI, AANAPISI, and serves a significant Pell Grant and first-generation student population.

Key Responsibilities

Applies and implements innovative academic support service models to support and enhance student learning, academic success, and intellectual development.
  • Develops and coordinates the growth of high-impact educational programs focused on Community Engaged Learning, Leadership Development (EXCEL + Career Readiness), and Student Mentorship & Leadership Programs. Develops innovative programing to support student participation in these programs. Collaborates with campus partners to ensure campus-wide participation.

Collaborates with faculty, advising units, academic departments, and other student service units to assess students' needs.
  • Identifies and meets with faculty and program leadership to promote programs and ensure that participation in under-subscribed colleges and departments is increased. Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders critical to program success. Collaborates with various partners including faculty, staff, and community leaders to promote and administer Community Engaged Learning programs. Ensures that program goals meet the needs of the students, faculty, community partners, and campus goals.

Mentors undergraduates and graduate students to enhance intellectual and professional trajectories.
  • Leads the development & implementation of EXCEL + Career Readiness. Advises students on the development of core competencies and resume development. Supports student involvement in Community Engaged Learning. Provides professional development and leadership for Student Ambassadors.

Conducts program evaluation to analyze program effectiveness and alignment with UE strategic plan and learning outcomes. Uses data to determine areas for improvement, and program growth.

Marketing and communications outreach of programs to prospective students, campus colleagues, and external audiences to include oral presentations, web site updates, and social media.
