Custom Scope
As a seasoned, experienced professional in K-14 academic preparation, independently works with assigned institutions and organizations to plan and implement a wide range of academic preparation programming. Develops and maintains program visibility in schools. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with K-14 and higher education institutions and/or community entities. Develops collaborative relationships with other college-going programs.

Department Custom Scope
The individual is responsible for the management and implementation of all aspects of the Early Academic Outreach Program as related to participants who are interested or on track to attend a community college (100%). The individual will provide community college information to approximately one thousand students and their parents at high schools and community-based organizations that have a partnership with the Early Academic Outreach Program. The individual will conceptualize, develop, and implement program services which include advising and instruction to EAOP participants which will assist them enrolling at a community college directly after high school and eventually to a four-year institution. The individual will serve as the primary contact for EAOP participants interested in attending a community college after graduating from high school. They will work collaboratively with other College Readiness programs such as Puente and Umoja developing relationships with other campus offices such as Office of Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Career Center. They will hire and train University Mentors, plan, coordinate, and implement activities that focus on community college transfer options to EAOP?s established objectives. In the absence of the Director, with consultation from the Executive Director, will provide oversight of services as they pertain to EAOP participants matriculating to a community college. This is a full-time career position.

Implements and facilitates recruitment and program alumni events.
  • Plans and coordinates events for current EAOP juniors and seniors who are considering attending a community college directly after high school. Reviews high school and community college transcripts, creating academic plans for EAOP Participants. Schedule and make presentations; ability to interact effectively with student, staff, faculty, administrators, and the general public.

Delivers individual and group advising services and maintains relationships with a group of K-14 students.
  • Assist students with completing college applications, scholarships, and the FAFSA. Helps students navigate the college admission process, apply, SIR, and enroll. Advises EAOP participants about the community college admission process.

Develops student academic plans to ensure post-secondary admission eligibility.

Acts as advocate for students and parents.

Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first generation urban youth. Required
