Department Custom Scope
The core focus of a Senior Staff Pharmacist will be on clinical responsibilities, encompassing medication dispensing, patient counseling, and overall patient care. Additionally, this role will collaborate closely with the Pharmacy Director to develop and execute projects in the realms of pharmacy informatics, patient safety, medication management, and Electronic Health Records (EHR). The Senior Staff Pharmacist actively contributes to optimizing pharmacy operations, ensuring accurate inventory management. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in advancing the pharmacy's commitment to excellence in both clinical practice and technological integration.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Medication dispensing, patient counseling, and overall patient care. Dispensing: Accurately fill and dispense prescriptions as prescribed by healthcare providers. Review Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in dispensing medications. Conduct drug utilization reviews using electronic health records and other resources to assess medication safety, interactions, and appropriateness. Provide expert guidance on OTC medications to meet customer needs. Offer comprehensive information to patients regarding the proper use, side effects, storage and contraindications of prescribed medications. Address patient inquiries and concerns, promoting understanding and adherence to medication regimens.

Inventory management: Executes timely and accurate replenishment of daily drug inventory to ensure uninterrupted pharmacy operations. Assists pharmacy manager in conducting quarterly and annual drug inventory. Conduct systematic auditing processes as needed to reconcile physical inventory with electronic records, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective measures. Works closely with the pharmacy manager to coordinate inventory-related activities to ensure seamless integration and e?ciency in overall inventory management.

Provides training and mentorship to junior pharmacists, interns, pharmacy technicians and clerks. Conduct focused training for junior pharmacists, interns, technicians, and clerks. Offers targeted guidance for skill enhancement and continuous learning.
