Projects may be passed off to the owners to implement and maintain. Requires level of expertise in project management such as project management certificate and/or quality improvement processes like Six Sigma or Lean or equivalent project management experience.

Department Custom Scope
UCR Central Human Resources (CHR) focuses on a framework and sustainable model that enables service enhancement, staff success and organizational agility. The ETHOS of CHR ensures five points: E ? Employee Success, Well-being & Retention, T ? Technology Enhancements, H ? Human Capital Investment & Succession Planning, O ? Operational Agility and Business Continuity, and S ? Service, Stability, & Sustainability. UCR CHR is comprised of the following teams, Employee and Organizational Development, Talent Acquisition and Diversity Outreach, Employee and Labor Relations, Benefits, Health & Wellness, Total Compensation, and HR Policy & Strategic Initiatives. An incumbent in the HR Systems and Initiatives Project Manager role will report to CHR and contribute as a member of the HR Policy & Strategic Initiatives team. In alignment to the framework and sustainable model the analyst will integrate the CHR ETHOS into assignments and projects daily. Within UCR CHR, the HR Systems and Initiatives Project Manager is responsible for the management of CHR HR projects, which include aspects of strategic design and initiatives, HRMS system updates, and other projects aligned with CHR's goals. In alignment with CHR's objectives and goals, the HR Systems and Initiatives Project Manager will contribute to change management efforts, assist with business process development, and perform other duties within the position description. A qualified candidate will possess strong skills in developing and overseeing work plans, preparation and presentation of projects while providing regular updates relevant to various audiences. The HR Systems and Initiatives Project Manager will examine the efficiency and effectiveness of existing and new projects, lay the groundwork for reviewing, amending, and strategically outlining a path forward with agility to create, recommend solutions, address gaps in processes, develop timelines from initiation to completion, ensure scope, implementation plans are fully understood, and risk mitigation is considered. Will also supervise three FTE's as it relates to projects, initiatives, hiring, and performance for the HR Systems unit.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Monitors and reports on project progress from initiation through delivery, including oversight of system integration, project and campus, medical center or Office of the President communications, interaction with vendors and managing risk. Identify and escalate risks and facilitate resolution among project team members / stakeholders.
  • Assist with change management efforts, including communicating with stakeholders about changes, assisting with developing and implementing change plans, and managing resistance to change. Identify and report any issues that arise as a result of implementing various changes within the organization.

Manage the development and implementation of CHR HR projects, including: gathering requirements and developing project plans. Coordinating with stakeholders and vendors, managing project timelines, and ensuring the projects are completed on time and within the scope of the budget. Supervise employees within the HR Systems team. Oversee projects of the team by providing direction, coaching and mentorship to help with continuous development of skills and achievement of successful project delivery. Responsible for making sound decisions in the areas of hiring, assessing performance, evaluating work assignments, identifying reclassification and merit opportunities. When necessary, address disciplinary actions and complaint/grievance resolution. Reporting back to leadership on all matters related to the team/unit as needed for transparency and strategic alignment.
