Generic Scope
Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. |

Department Custom Scope
The purpose of the Assistant Director, is to oversee all aspects of diversity recruitment and application evaluation within the UC Riverside Undergraduate Admissions office. In concert with the Director and Associate Directors of Undergraduate Admissions, the incumbent is responsible to develop an annual strategic plan in line with the campus and Enrollment Services strategic plans to meet diversity enrollment objectives. Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the incumbent supervises full-time admission specialist who are responsible for the recruitment and evaluation of applicants to UCR. This position will require travel to recruit prospective and admitted students by providing oversight at various programs and events as well as participation in consortium travel and conferences. |
