Department Custom Scope
UCR ARTS seeks an emerging museum or arts education professional for a part-time Education Programs Coordinator position at UCR ARTS California Museum of Photography and Culver Center of the Arts. This is an intermediate-level position in museum education that will provide experience with a variety of types of museum programming for broad audiences. The primary objective of education programs at UCR ARTS is to provide meaningful experiences that help visitors connect with art during regular visitation, public programs, guided tours, and workshops. The Education Programs Coordinator will work with the Associate Director of Education and Public Programs and other museum staff to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative programs inspired by UCR ARTS? photography and contemporary art exhibitions for middle school, high school, college, and adult audiences. UCR ARTS is made up by the California Museum of Photography and Culver Center of the Arts. UCR ARTS is a department of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at UC Riverside. UCR ARTS is located in two adjacent and connected historic buildings in downtown Riverside and serves not only the UC Riverside campus but also public audiences through free admission to our exhibitions and free or low-cost public programs. The anticipated starting salary for this 50% position (20 hours a week) with an anticipated starting salary of $25.65 per hour for a 24-month period, with the possibility of extension beyond the initial two-year period if funding becomes available. The position requires a Bachelor?s Degree in Education, Museum Studies, Art History, Photography, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with and interest in digital photography, filmmaking, and/or media arts is strongly preferred. Must be comfortable facilitating conversations around art in an informal education setting. Most work will be conducted on weekdays from 9am-5pm and adjustments for occasional evening and weekend programs. Preferred schedule for this position is Tuesday-Friday from 9am-3pm. |
