Custom Scope
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced musical professional. Duties may include providing musical program or project oversight as fully functional assistant director. Other duties may be include providing accompanist duties for individuals/groups by improvising music for dance and/or chorale functions. Scores are challenging or technically difficult and incumbents may compose, arrange and transpose musical scores as required.

Department Custom Scope
This is a staff position that will work in collaboration with the Student Life department as the University Highlander Pep Band Director. This position will work with faculty and production managers on pep band productions and projects. The incumbent will conduct annual equipment and instrument inventories and advise the Chair and the Student Life Department on equipment needs. The University Highlander Pep Band Director will coordinate and manage the recruitment of the band members and student assistants. This position is a part-time position approx. 50% appt.

May serve as assistant director for campus musical ensembles/groups, providing comprehensive oversight in all areas of program production and coordination.
  • Upon the Direction of the Chair of the Department of Music serve as assistant director for musical recitals and senior recitals, providing comprehensive oversight in all areas of program production and coordination. Accompany and coach students. Support music and sound needs of students and their final concert presentation of work. Plans the repertoire together with individual V&I instructors and selects and orders music for the recital. Participate in performances

Upon the Direction of the Chair of the Department of Music and in agreement with the V&I instructor provide instrumental and/or vocal coaching for students in a studio setting, including basic diction of foreign languages.

Assists student managers of all groups, and mentors, leads and assists student musicians.

Participates in rehearsals and/or performance scheduling and participating as required in production/implementation of special programs such as campus hosted festivals or events.
