Position Purpose

The UC Riverside Office of Strategic Communications provides campus leadership in planning, coordinating and implementing communications programs that foster increased awareness, understanding and support of the institution's mission, vision, accomplishments and needs among its many internal and external constituencies.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing and Creative Services, and working in close collaboration with current marketing, multimedia design and video staff, the Web Manager also supports the media relations staff, university advancement unit staff, and a variety of campus departments and organizations. The incumbent provides project management and programming backup when needed. Working in close partnership with the Creative Director to execute web design and branding and supervising 2.0 FTE programmers, the incumbent will:

o manage development and refinement of the campus umbrella site, ucr.edu, including site navigation, programming, Search Engine Optimization, (SEO), and multimedia content.
o by utilizing the Omni Update content management system, assist select campus clients in planning and building sites, developing content, optimizing SEO, and ensuring compliance with UC Electronic Accessibility Guidelines and campus branding guidelines.
o Assist with management of short and long-term digital asset management systems (WEBDAM).
o oversee programming for all UCR online digital publications.
o regularly evaluate umbrella site traffic and analytics and recommend industry best practices and new ways to leverage technologies and social media best practices.
o Coordinate, edit and supervise work of external vendors and freelance content producers.

Project Management: Web design and branding execution 50
The Web Manager will provide leadership, technical assistance, and project management expertise, based on the following essential duties:

o Manage content, navigation, SEO and programming of UCR umbrella site (www.ucr.edu), university advancement and senior leadership administrative sites. As needed, work across departments to help ensure stewardship of campus web standards.
o Produce and/or coordinate production of written content for umbrella and other campus sites.
o Oversee programming support for digital publications including UCR Today, Inside UCR, Happenings, UCR magazine, and various e-newsletters, solicitations, mobile campus map.
o Manage web projects according to consistent branding, accessibility and usability guidelines and programming standards. Conduct client-intake, define scope of work, develop and manage production schedules, define site architecture, coordinate content development.
o Keep pace with latest trends in rapidly changing digital communications environment; track site analytics and recommend new and emerging technologies and staff training opportunities.
o Assist with management of digital asset management systems.

Posted Minimum Requirements
o Bachelor's Degree in computer science, communications or related field and six years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Minimum of two years Web/IT project management experience, including defining scope of work and production schedules, allocating and coordinating in-house and freelance resources, budget management, client management.
o Experience supervising professional programming staff.
o Demonstrated skill in planning and mapping site architectures; Working knowledge of web and cross-platform design best practices; Familiarity with site security and accessibility guidelines.
o Programming experience in HTML and CSS, including familiarity with HTML5 and CSS3 programming and browser compatibility issues; Familiarity with PHP, MySQL, Javascript and Web 2.0.
o Working knowledge of content management systems.
o Working knowledge of mobile design and development including responsive design.
o Familiarity with brand stewardship and strategic marketing best practices.
o Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
o Excellent problem-solving, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
