Custom Data Analysis | 50 |
The incumbent will be responsible for the development and maintenance of several pipelines for large-scale data analysis of next generation sequencing experiments. This will include the independent planning, execution and communication of data analysis projects with experimental scientists from different biology and biomedical backgrounds. In the initial stage, the responsibilities will focus on the development and improvement of several data analysis workflows for gene expression profiling (RNA-Seq), small RNA discovery, methylation (BS-Seq) studies and variant detection (VAR-Seq). Another responsibility will be run support and data distribution of next generation sequencers in close collaboration with technical sequencing staff. The responsibilities require the design and implementation of novel algorithms, database development and software development in R, C++ and Python.
Development of Data Analysis Software | 25 |
Under general supervision by the director of the IIGB bioinformatic facility, the statistician will instruct other programmers and students in the development of data analysis routines and software tools, implement novel data analysis strategies into software pipelines; integrate custom modifications into existing open-source code and write scripts to automate and parallelize complex data analysis tasks on Linux clusters. All programming tasks will be performed exclusively under Linux/Unix environments.
Consultancy and Training | 25 |
The statistician will provide statistical consultation, train customers in the usage of novel research software tools, and co-instruct data analysis programming workshops together with other facility members. |
