Position Purpose

Working with graphic, web and new media designers, the Front End Designer for the department of Student Affairs Communications will envision and develop responsive web environments and multi-touch online experiences using a mobile framework. The Front End Developer must be able to successfully communicate and execute concepts, UI/UX for our creative team, clients, and students.

Work closely with director and supervisor to augment print and electronic marketing, develop web, smartphone, and tablet environments.

Development functional wireframes that show UX/UI direction.

Work closely with creative team to develop responsive multi-touch publications and interactive content that are compatible with various mobile devices and platforms.

Understand and be able to integrate social media to augment the mobile experience.

Create and manage mobile publications, make layout, content and graphic element updates as needed.

Plan campaign measurement metrics and implement web analytics to measure mobile site traffic campaign success.

Troubleshoot platform compatibility.
Responsive Web Design 45
Work closely with director and supervisor to integrate responsive layouts and mobile capabilities to sites and marketing tools that would benefit the student experience.

Develop functional wireframes that showcase UX/UI website elements.

Work closely with the creative team to identify and design responsive layouts and graphics.

Code, develop and troubleshoot responsive web layouts and optimize sites created with existing Content Management Systems.

Troubleshoot platform compatibility.

Implement responsive site web analytics to track mobile usage and successful UI use.

Manage responsive site updates, including layout, content, and graphic elements.

Create electronic responsive emails that are compatible with various email clients.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirement Display Ranking

Bachelors degree in graphic design, interactive media, advertising or related field of study required or combined education and experience.

Intermediate level to code and implement HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, jQuery Mobile, JavaScript, Intermediate experience with cross-browser compatibility HTML5/CSS3.

Strong visual design with demonstrated use of typography, color theory and content organization and presentation and thorough knowledge of the web and mobile technologies, including file preparation and optimization, and W3C standards.

Relevant and in-depth experience developing and implementing responsive web design and mobile publications for smartphones and tablets.

Minimum of 3 years working in an ad agency, interactive agency, or in-house creative department. Equivalent experience considered with strong portfolio.

Thorough understanding of Content Management System environments, specifically OUCampus/OmniUpdate.

Excellent organization and time management skills with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent project and excellent communication, teamwork, and presentation skills with the ability to provide superior client service.

Student Affairs Communications is seeking a Front End Designer who can think through the user experience, skillfully design for mobile and tablet, and code in the most modern HTML and CSS standards. This UI Designer will work with a team of print and web designers and writers to create mobile and tablet experiences that will support Student Affairs recruitment and retention marketing efforts for domestic and international students.
