Position Purpose
With general direction from the faculty and Finance & Administrative Officer (supervisor), this position manages the Sculpture Laboratory. Apply knowledge in the discipline of Art/Sculpture to assist in planning for faculty use, performing and assisting in teaching various techniques and methods, and manage and coordinate all administrative and operational functions related to the Sculpture Laboratory. Hire, train, and supervise student laboratory workers. Supervise open lab hours. |

Supervise open lab hours, to answer questions and to assistant students and faculty on technical issues. Participate in planning for the department's future growth including planning for facilities, equipment and materials. Make recommendations for program improvements. Ensure proper preparation of instructional materials. Demonstrate safe and proper use of equipment and materials. |

Sculpture Laboratory Operations Management | 35 |
Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment and expendable supplies; work with administrative support staff to arrange repairs and replacement of obsolete or unusable equipment; maintain inventory of supplies and submit order information, stock numbers, and description for needed materials; oversee safety and storage of equipment and related supplies and chemicals. Maintain equipment, including operating and training on CNC router, monitors use of equipment during lab hours or checks out equipment as established by Sculpture faculty and administrative staff; keeps all safety records and ensures safety instruction and training is provided to all who use the laboratory. Prepare, set up and/or arrange for AV equipment. Ensure laboratory is operated and maintained in a safe manner and in compliance with UC policies and procedure, federal and state laws and requirements. Prepare and assist in the justification of budget estimates. Maintain expenditure control over approved budgets. Research equipment and material needs, prepare cost estimates and make recommendations. |
